The World Is Made Up Of People

Letters to the Editor: If you binge watch TV, you have time to read a ‘long’ book. If you have less time to read, you could spend more time reading.

If the books you read are the ones you enjoy, there is more than one way to read them. Some books take months to absorb, while others are picked up and finished in minutes. But the reading you choose will affect the way you view the world.

I think you are wrong when you blame people for being lazy. They don’t always choose to do the things that you wish they would. They are lazy because they allow the things that they do not want happen to them.

I used to teach high school, and when I was in the classroom, I did everything I could to stay on task. I never gave the students extra assignments, took notes on every class, and made sure to give the material at hand. Once in a long while I wrote down a paragraph, and I would say, “Write down this and this, and this one, and this one, and…”

I would say, “I know I will forget some of this,” but I never had a chance to let go.

For some reason, we do not want to do the things that we have to do. We like to push the people we love away from us, or we like to push the things that we do not want to happen to us. I believe that the books that we read make up a part of our world, but the world is made up of people. The world is the way it is because of the choices that people make.

I don’t think you have read many books that are going to change the way you view life. They teach you more about yourself. Your job in life is to make the choices that are best for you. We were all born a little bit ignorant, and we should not let our ignorance stop us from doing what we need to do.
