TORONTO — On Wednesday, March 21, news outlets around the world reported cases of the new coronavirus in Canada, which has now been officially named “COVID-19”.
According to the World Health Organization, “COVID-19” can be acquired either through close contact, or through the air.
“The 2019 Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) is a new human coronavirus that has infected people in several countries, including Italy, Iran, France, South Korea, Britain and the United States,” the WHO said in its own news release.
“It is a respiratory virus, which affects the respiratory system,” it said.
COVID-19 causes a mild to severe respiratory illness. In most cases, people who have it do not require hospitalization.
It has been confirmed in six countries so far, including South Korea, Iran, Italy and Spain.
Toronto Police have confirmed that, according to their laboratory test results, a Halton and one in Durham have been confirmed as having the same coronavirus, which has been identified as an “ovine coronavirus.”

These cases have been reported in Halton:
• A man in his 80s has tested positive for the virus in Halton.
• A Halton male in his 60s has been diagnosed with the virus in Halton.
• A Halton man in his 70s and his two sons in their 20s have the virus in Halton.
• A man in his 80s and his two sons in their 20s have the virus in Halton.
• A Halton man in his 50s has been diagnosed with the virus in Halton.
• A Halton man in his 50s has tested positive and is being held in the hospital for observation.
• A man in his 70s in a Halton nursing home has been diagnosed with the virus in Halton. A family member living
